Village of Haverstraw

Local Waterfront Revitalization Program

Hudson River Sculpture TrailThe Village of Haverstraw has completed preparation of a Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP), which is a locally prepared, comprehensive land and water use plan for it's natural, public, working waterfront, and developed waterfront resources. The Haverstraw LWRP provides a comprehensive framework within which critical waterfront issues can be addressed and planned waterfront improvement projects can be pursued and implemented.

The Village of Haverstraw prepared it's LWRP with assistance from the New York State Department of State and in accordance with the New York State Waterfront Revitalization of Coastal Areas and Inland Waterways Act and the New York State Coastal Management Program.

The Village of Haverstraw LWRP is a comprehensive coastal management program that is based on the policies of the New York State Coastal Management Program. The Haverstraw Village Board of Trustees adopted their LWRP on August 11, 2003. The Haverstraw LWRP was the approved by the New York State Secretary of State on May 20, 2004. Following approval by the NYS Secretary of State, the Haverstraw LWRP was incorporated into the New York State Coastal Management Program by action of the U.S. Office of Ocean and Coastal Resources Management on January 14, 2005. With State and Federal approval, the Haverstraw LWRP will serve to coordinate State and Federal Actions needed to achieve the Village's goals for its waterfront area.

The Village of Haverstraw LWRP refines and supplements the State Coastal Management Program by incorporating local needs and objectives. It contains eight sections, and appendices.
